What is your favorite part of coaching at ROC Star Academy?

I love passing on the knowledge and joy of music on to the next generation.

Your musical focus/instruments you play: 

My main instrument is drums and I tend to play Jazz and Rock. I also play guitar and sing.

 

What is your musical background?

I have played drums for most of my life, I started when I was 3. I played in the Rochester music scene all through high school and college. I now own and operate FLX Music Supply in Naples NY, play in many area bands and in pit orchestras.

What are your musical influences/favorite bands? 

I am strongly influenced by Steve Gadd, Chad Sexton and Billy Martin. I am a huge fan of The Allman Brothers Band.

What one album would you choose if you were stranded on a deserted island?

"Make Yourself" by Incubus

What is your favorite venue or event that you’ve performed?

I have recently found a lot of joy playing some of the small local theaters like Bristol Valley Theater and Avon Park.

 

What’s the craziest thing that ever happened to you on-stage?

I'm not sure if it is crazy but, opening for LA Gunn's in Canandaigua and having so little room left on stage that the bass player stood on top of his amp and the keyboard player had to sit off the stage…​

What’s the best piece of musical advice you’ve received in your career thus far?

Have fun! We call it “playing" for a reason.
